After a program best sixth-place mark in the 10K on Thursday evening, Denison sophomore Katie Navarre (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) completed her performance at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship by finishing fifth out of 17 athletes in the 5,000 meter run on Saturday afternoon at Don Drumm Stadium in Marietta, Ohio.

Navarre crossed the line in a time of 17:23.76 which was just over nine second behind the pace set by Wisconsin-Oshkosh's Ayla Mitchell who won the race with a mark of 17:14.52.

The fifth-place finish earned Navarre her second track and field All-America accolade in as many tries.  It also marked the best finish by a female Denison runner in the history of the NCAA Outdoor Championships, an honor the sophomore previously set less than 48 hours ago.
