Women's Outdoor Track & Field: Division III All-Ohio Results

Sophomore Katie Navarre (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) led the Denison women's outdoor track & field team with a victory in the 10,000 meter run at the Division III All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan Univesrity on Saturday. The Big Red finished the event 16th in the 18-team field.
Navarre finished her race in 35:58.43 which was over three minutes faster then Mount Union's Alice Coughlin who crossed the line second. Navarre's teammate Kelsey Pence (Columbus, Ind./Columbus North) took eighth in the event with a time of 41:16.66. The 4x100 relay team of senior Amanda Conley (Dublin, Ohio/Columbus Academy), sophomore Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East), sophomore Claire Navarro (Seal Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos) and first-year Alesha Stewart (Houma, La./La. School for Math, Science & the Art) finished ninth with a time of 53.29.
In the field events, rookie Katherin Sylvia (Butler, Pa./Butler) placed 11th in the discus with a toss of 106-03 while junior Emily Taylor (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) took 17th in the shot put with a heave of 34-03.00.
Ohio Athletic Conference schools dominated the top seven spots in the final team standings with Ohio Northern University capturing the team crown with 87 points. Marietta College finished second with 82.5 tallies while Heidelberg University was third with 80 points.
The Big Red's next meet will be next Saturday (April 18) when they travel to Kenyon College.
