Women's Track & Field: Pair of school records fall at Kenyon Invitational

Two school records fell at the Kenyon Invitational on Saturday in Gambier, Ohio.  Junior Emily Hammeren (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) cleared 10'6" in the pole vault, breaking the previous mark of 10'5" set by Amanda Wieland in 2001.  Hammeren finished third in the event.

The other school record came in the hammer throw where junior Emily Handelman (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) logged a distance of 104'6" breaking her own record throw of 101'3".

Denison's other top performances came from Ashley Putnam (North East, Pa./North East) and Kirby Mosenthal (Briarcliff, N.Y./Irvington) who finished second in the 800 meters, and the steeplechase, respectively.  Putnam finished the 200 in 2:22.69 and Mosenthal splashed through the steeplechase in 12:42.96.

The Big Red finished eighth as a team with 50 points.  They will compete this Friday at the Big Red Invitational from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m.
