After a stellar sophomore season which saw her place ninth at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships and win the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference Distance Runner of the Year award, Katie Navarre (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) is set to compete against the nation's best this weekend at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships which are being hosted by Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.

Navarre enters the meet with the nation's second-fastest time in the 10,000 meters and Division III's eighth-fastest time in the 5,000 meters.  Navarre's time of 35:16.91 is just 0.8 seconds slower than the nation's top qualifying time held by Lauren Philbrook, a senior from Williams College.  Her qualifying time, which was set by winning the predominatley Division I Raleigh Relays in March, shattered the school record by more than one minute.  Navarre will race in the finals of the 10K on Thursday (May 21) at 7:40 p.m.

In the 5,000 meters Navarre checks in with a season-best time of 17:05.70 which was set in last weekend's North Central College Gregory Invitational.  The top qualifying time in the 5K is held by Johns Hopkins junior, Laura Paulsen, who recorded a time of 16:50.75 on April 23 at the Penn Relays.  The 5,000 meter finals will take place on Saturday (May 23) at 4:20 p.m.

Live results from the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be posted Official Championship Site.
