Women's Track & Field Place 9th at Wooster

The Denison women's track team traveled to Wooster for the Wooster Invitational this past weekend where they took 9th place out of 12 teams competing falling just 5 points short of 8th place finishers Edinboro. Senior Christine Collins (Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Chagrin Falls) led the Big Red with a first place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:41.00 beating second place by over 18 seconds. Junior Brittany Cerankosky (Kirtland, Ohio / Kirtland) also placed well finishing second in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:41.77. Freshman Emily Hammeren (Olmsted Falls, Ohio / Olmsted) took third in the pole vault with a jump of 2.90 meters. Juniors Ozzie Crump (Chicago, Ill. / Wells) and Courtney Alexander (Westfield, Ind. / Westfield) finished back-to-back in the 400 meter run taking 8th and 9th place in the finals while junior Amanda Conley (Dublin, Ohio / Columbus Academy) took 9th in the 100 meter dash. Also scoring points for Denison were freshmen Emily Taylor (Columbus, Ohio / Hilliard Davidson) who threw 10.52 meters for a 6th place finish in the shot put, Kelly McCallin (Canton, Ohio / St. Thomas Aquinas) who finished 6th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:28.69 and Sarah Anderson (Poland, Ohio / Poland Seminary) who finished right behind McCallin in the 800 meter run for 7th with a time of 2:30.40.
