Junior Anna Rusch's (Washington D.C., Sidwell Friends School) fourth-minute goal lifted the 14th-ranked Denison women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Allegheny College on Sunday afternoon. The victory was the Big Red's fifth consecutive and improved their record to 9-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Rusch's ninth goal of the season came at the 3:37 mark when junior Julie Dean (Liberty Township, Ohio/Mt. Notre Dame) sent a cross that Rusch fired towards the goal. The ball caromed off the foot of a Gator defender into the back of the net. The Washington D.C. native has notched five goals in the last five games and currently leads the squad in scoring.

DU outshot Allegheny 17-4. Big Red goalie Courtney Cobb (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) made two stops while Emily Karr recorded four saves for AC. The shutout marked Cobb's fifth of the year.

Denison returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 15) when they host league foe Earlham. Match time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
