Women' Soccer: Carnegie Mellon and Denison play to scoreless tie

Angie Coderre had one shot on goal versus CMU on Saturday afternoon.
In a battle of two regionally ranked team, Denison and Carnegie Mellon went the distance on Saturday afternoon in Granville, to the tune of a 0-0 tie over 110 minutes.
Denison was the agressor offensivley, outshooting the Tartans 10-0. The Big Red had three shots on goal in both the first and the second period but were held without a scoring attempt in the 20 minutes of overtime.
CMU goalkeeper Anya Rosen had an outstanding afternoon for the Tartans. She turned in six saves and slammed the door on the Big Red's best scoring chance midway through the second half. With just under 25 minutes to play, Denison's Sarah Ash (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) fired a bullet from eight yards out which forced Rosen to dive to the right, at full extension to keep the score tied. That would be the final shot on-goal attempt for the Big Red.
Both Rosen and DU goalkeeper Courtney Cobb (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) earned respective shutouts. There were 15 fouls called, with 11 going agianst Denison while the Big Red controlled corner kicks 6-2. Ash led DU in shots with four while Julie Dean (Liberty Township, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) came off the bench, adding three shots.
Denison's next match will be on Wednesday (Sept. 24) when they host another regionally ranked opponent in Ohio Northern University at 7:30 p.m.
