Women's Soccer: Hoskin's two goals power No. 12 Denison past Kenyon

Sophomore Maggie Hoskin (Chicago, Ill./Homewood) two goal outing pushed the 12th-ranked Denison women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over North Coast Athletic Conference rival Kenyon College on Tuesday afternoon in Gambier, Ohio. The win was the eighth consecutive for the Big Red.
With 21:01 left in the first half, junior Kate Henderson (Denver, Colo./George Washington) tallied her first career goal on a breakaway after spliting a pair of Kenyon defenders. In the 41st minute DU added on to their lead when Hoskin scored her third goal of the season on a put back after a save by goalkeeper Kat Powers on her initial shot.
Two minutes later Kenyon cut the deficit in half when Caddie Durrett converted a corner kick into a goal. The tally made the score 2-1 at the half in favor of the Big Red.
Hoskin tacked on an unassisted insurance goal for Denison at the 87:36 mark. The goal was the sophomore's fourth of the year and marked her first career multi-goal match.
The Big Red outshot the Ladies 15-10 and had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Junior goalie Courtney Cobb (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) made three saves for DU while Powers ended the match with five stops.
With the win, Denison improves to 12-2-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in conference action. The Big Red hits the field next on Saturday when they travel to Delaware, Ohio to take on the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University. The battle of NCAC unbeatens is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
