A pair of second-half goals lifted the 14th-ranked Denison women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Oberlin College in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at Barclay-Thomsen Field. The victory improved the Big Red's record to 8-2-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the conference.

The DU offense dominated the opening half outshooting the Yeowoman 11-1. The Big Red's best chance at breaking the scoreless tie came with just under 10 minutes left in the opening half. Sophomore Kim Oshita (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) headed a cross that was corralled between the legs of goalkeeper Sarah Grabinski.

Roughly four minutes into the second period sophomore Jen Clemmer (Hixson, Tenn./Baylor School) settled a cross and tried to go far post for the score but Grabinski made a diving save to knock the ball off course. Clemmer had another shot when she blistered a shot off an Oshita cross, but the ball sailed just wide of the net.

At the 67:17 mark, Denison broke the 0-0 tie when Oshita settled a cross by sophomore Jen Sloan (Bethesda, Md./Sidwell Friends School) and fired the ball just above the finger tips of Grabinski from 15 yards out.

The Big Red increased their lead to 2-0 when junior Anna Rusch (Washington, D.C./Sidwell Friends School) scored on a penalty kick following an Oberlin foul in the box.

DU held a 27-2 advantage in shots, including an 11-1 advantage in shots on goal. Denison junior goalkeeper Courtney Cobb (Sylvania, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) stopped the only shot that came her way while Grabinski made nine saves on the night.

The Big Red hits the field next when they travel to Allegheny College on Sunday (Oct. 12) at 12 p.m.
