The Denison women's soccer team spent Saturday afternoon working at the TWIGS Thrift Shop in Granville. The team's work was part of a campus wide initiative by the Denison Community Association called Big Red's Big Day where various campus organizations spent the day doing volunteer work. Team members helped sort merchandise and straighten shelves.
The TWIGS Thrift Shop in Granville supports Licking Memorial Hospital through it's sales. TWIGS stands for Togetherness, Willingness, Imagination, Giving and Sharing.
The TWIGS Organization of Licking Memorial Hospital was established in May 1950. Mrs. John Spencer (Ernie) asked her bridge club to form TWIGS 1. Mrs. Spencer was the first TWIGS Executive Board Chairman and held that office from 1950 to 1953. Seven other TWIGS were also formed at the same time. Currently there are six active TWIGS groups. The Granville Thrift Shop is know as TWIGS 6. TWIGS originated with a ladies’ auxiliary group of Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, New York in the late 1800s.
