Women's Soccer: Oshita, Rusch named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

Denison women's soccer junior Kimmi Oshita (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) and senior Anna Rusch (Washington, D.C./Sidwell Friends School) were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Team.  Oshita was a first-team selection while Rusch received second-team honors.  By being named to the first team Oshita advances to the national ballot with hopes of being awarded Academic All-American honors.

Oshita leads the Big Red in points with 31, goals with 15 and game-winning goals with five.  The Cincinnati, native's 15 tallies are the most since Dana Grandmaison scored 16 in 1999.  This season, the junior also led the NCAC in both points (1.63/game) and goals (0.79/game).  Last season, Oshita earned first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference, first-team All-Ohio and first-team Academic All-Ohio honors.

Rusch is a four-year letterwinner at midfield for DU.  The senior captain has compiled 31 goals, including eight game winners, and eight assists in 76 career matches.  Rusch is a two-time all-conference selections, earning first-team status in 2007 and second-team accolades in 2008.  She was also a second-team Academic All-Ohio a year ago.

No. 12 Denison (15-2-2) captured their second-straight North Coast Athletic Conference regular season title, and eighth overall, after going 7-0-1 in league play.  The Big Red is currently riding a 13-game unbeaten streak and will host Earlham College in the semifinals of the NCAC Tournament on Tuesday (Nov. 3) at Barclay-Thomsen Field in Granville.  Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on the Denison Sports Network powered by TEAMLINE.
