Date: October 29, 2007
Location: GRANVILLE

The Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan will travel to Granville Wednesday evening for the opening round of the 2007 NCAC women's soccer tournament beginning at 7 p.m. from Barclay-Thomsen Field.

The Big Red enter the match the second seed with a 12-4-2 overall record and 5-1-2 record in NCAC action. They are currently 21st in the nation and third in the Great Lakes region.

Senior goalkeeper Liz Gillette (Chardon, Ohio/NDCL) leads a Denison defense that has allowed just ten goals in 18 games, with only four of those in conference play. Gillette has recorded five consecutive shutouts for 490:01 of scoreless soccer.

Sophomore Anna Rusch (Washington, D.C./Sidwell Friends) leads a Denison offense that has outshot opponents 343-118. She has eight goals and an assist on the season. Complementing Rusch is junior Sarah Ash's (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) all-around play. The forward has 15 points on 5 goals and 5 assists.

Ohio Wesleyan is currently 5th in the Great Lakes region at 9-4-5. Their 4-1-3 record in conference play seeds them third in this year's bracket.

Junior Michelle Corbett's (Dublin, Ohio/Scioto) ten goals, including five game-winners, make her the conference's fourth leading scorer. The Bishops have outscored their opponents 29-20 on the year.

On Oct. 20, the Big Red and Bishops battled to a 0-0 tie in 110 minutes of action. Denison defeated Ohio Wesleyan 3-0 last season in Delaware.

Ticket prices for Wednesday's game will be $5 for adults, $2 for children and $2 for students and faculty/staff with an ID.

The winner of this game will advance to the championship on Saturday at the site of the highest remaining seed. #1 Wittenberg plays #4 Kenyon in Springfield in the other semifinal match.
