Women's Soccer: Cochran, Ash, Anderson named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

Denison University seniors Kim Cochran (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) and Kia Anderson (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) and junior Sarah Ash (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) have been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams. Cochran was named second team while Anderson and Ash took home third team honors.
Cochran, the 2006 NCAC defensive player of the year and three-time first team all-NCAC selection, carries a 3.53 GPA as a Spanish and International Studies double major. She leads a defense that has allowed just 11 goals in 19 games. In 81 career starts, Cochran has nine goals and 12 assists from her defensive position. She has led the Big Red to consecutive NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and an Elite 8 appearance in 2005. She was recognized for her efforts in the classroom last season with a third team spot and this year on second team Academic All-District.
Opposite Cochran on the Big Red defense is senior Kia Anderson. The Princeton, N.J. native earned third team honors with a 3.58 GPA in psychology, where she is a member of Psi Chi psychology honorary. In 73 career starts, Anderson has five goals and nine assists. She has been named all-NCAC all three seasons in Granville, second team in 2004 and honorable mention in 2005 and 2006. Her play in the back line of defense has been key to the Big Red's success this season and in NCAA tournament runs of the past.
Junior Sarah Ash joins Anderson on third team. In 62 career starts Ash has 16 goals and 13 assists to lead the Big Red offense. She was a second-team All-NCAC selection in 2005 and 2006. In the classroom, Ash carries a 3.66 GPA as a Spanish and Psychology double major. She is a member of the Psi Chi psychology honorary society.
The Big Red is 13-4-2 on the season and will face Wittenberg Saturday in the NCAC tournament championship at 7 p.m.
