Alex Murray was 3-for-3 with a home run in game two on Saturday.
The Denison Big Red improved to 4-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference following 5-1 and 8-0 victories over The College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon from Granville.
The opening tilt saw Denison's Sam Rumschlag (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral) improve to 6-4 on the year thanks to her six-hit, seven-strikeout performance. Rumschlag allowed one run in the third inning but it crossed the plate after a throwing error by the Big Red. DU had nine hits in game one. Rumschlag was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Hanna Price (Hudson, Ohio./Hudson) also finished 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Wooster's Andrea Kelley took the loss after pitching six innings and allowing nine hits, four walks and two earned runs.
In the second game Denison jumped all over the Fighting Scots in the bottom of the first inning. An Alex Murray (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/NDCL) double scored Mary Beth Krolikowski (Brunswick, Ohio/Holy Name) who led off the game with a single through the left side of the infield. With two runners now in scoring position, Brie Berkopec (Mars, Pa./Mars Senior) slugged a double off the wall in left field, scoring Murray and Erica Evans (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington). A Rumschlag single two batters later would give DU the 4-0 lead.
In the fourth inning Murray returned with a solo home run to left field and in the fifth an error would lead to the two game-clinching runs to cross the plate. Leslie Brenner (Deerfield, Ohio/Deerfield) upped her record to 5-5 by allowing only two hits in five innings pitched. She also struck out three.
Krolikowski wass 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Murray finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
