Softball: Muskingum takes two from Big Red to capture NCAA Regional Championship

Muskingum College defeated Denison 3-2 in the second NCAA Regional Championship game of the day from Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. The win sends the Muskies to their eighth NCAA Division III World Series while the Big Red's season comes to a close with a 28-12 record.

Softball: Denison advances to NCAA Regional Championship game

The Denison Big Red improved to 3-0 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Regional Championship game on Saturday after a pair of victories over the No. 2 seeded Mount Union Purple Raiders and top-seeded Muskingum. In the opener DU blanked Mount Union 5-0 and rallied for a 3-2 win over the Muskies in the nightcap.

Denison's NCAA regional tournament tilt with Mount Union College scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday (May 9) has been rained out and postponed until Saturday.

Softball: Denison stuns Rowan in NCAA opening round

The No. 6 seeded Denison Big Red scored four runs off four hits in the fifth inning and added six more runs in the sixth en route to a 10-1 victory over host Rowan University from the Rowan Softball Complex in Glassboro, N.J.

The Denison softball team will travel to Glassboro, N.J and take on Rowan University at 12 p.m. on Thursday (May 8) to open play at the 2008 NCAA Division III Softball Championships.

Softball: Denison captures NCAC Championship

The Big Red jumped all over Hiram College with four runs in the bottom of the first inning and put a seven-spot on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning, highlighted by a Mary Beth Krolikowski grand slam, clinching the 2008 NCAC tournament championship and a 13-2 win over the Terriers on Sunday in Meadville.

Softball: Big Red advance to NCAC Tournament Championship

The Denison women's softball team entered the NCAC tournament as the #3 seed and after two days of upsets, have advanced to the NCAC Tournament Championship game. After defeating #2 seed Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, the Big Red squared off against #4 seed Hiram, who downed #1 seed Allegheny.

Bri Scrofano fired a complete game, four hit shutout and Alex Murray blasted her seventh home run of the season as the Big Red defeated Ohio Wesleyan, 5-0 on Friday in Meadville, Pa.

The North Coast Athletic Conference women's outdoor track and field championships got underway at Ohio Wesleyan University on Thursday and the Big Red is in fifth place heading into Friday's final day of competition.

The Denison Big Red closed out their 2008 regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Oberlin College and, in the process, clinched a spot in next week's North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

Softball: Denison wins 20th in sweep of Polar Bears

The Denison softball team reached the 20-win mark for the eighth time in the 12-year history of the program following a doubleheader sweep of Ohio Northern on Tuesday afternoon in Ada, Ohio.

Softball: Denison and Allegheny split doubleheader

Allegheny College scored five run in the fourth inning of game one to take the opener 5-3 but the Big Red battled back in the nightcap with a 10-1, five-inning victory. Claire Kopko, Mary Beth Krolikowski, Alex Murray and Brie Berkopec all went deep for the Big Red.

Softball: Scrofano wins 10th in split with Kenyon

Denison blanked Kenyon 10-0 in game one but suffered a 9-0 setback in game two on Wednesday, falling to 5-5 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Denison was led by senior ace Bri Scrofano who picked up her 10th win of the season.

Denison sophomore third baseman Alex Murray was named the North Coast Athletic Conference softball Player of the Week after slugging three home runs in a two-game sweep of Wooster over the weekend.

Denison scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Hiram College 4-2 in game one, but the Terriers rebounded with a 5-3 victory in game two on Monday afternoon in Granville.

Alex Murray blasted three home runs and drove in seven RBIs as Denison completed a sweep of The College of Wooster on Saturday. In all, Denison hit six home runs and pounded out 21 hits in the pair of North Coast Athletic Conference victories.

Behind an outstanding pitching performance by Bri Scrofano in game one and an stellar day at the plate by freshman first baseman Erica Evans, Denison completed a doubleheader sweep of visiting Case Western Reserve on Tuesday in Granville.
