Softball: Big Red Sweeps '08 Openers

Molly Sack went 5-for-8 in two wins on Tuesday.

The Denison University softball team opened up their 2008 season with a pair of victories under first-year head coach Tiffany Ozbun this afternoon in Kissimmee, Fla.  DU defeated Oneonta State 10-7 and topped Manhattanville 3-1 in the second game.

In the opener sophomore Sam Rumschlag (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral) picked up the win and first-year Amy Eberlin (Toronto, Ont./Leaside) was 2-for-3 with a triple.  Senior Ali Silver was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and sophomore Molly Sack (Toledo, Ohio/Southview) was 3-for-4.

In the second game versus Manhattanville senior hurler Bri Scrofano (Longs, S.C./McDowell) earned the victory and struck out eight in the win.  Sack and Rachel Cotterman (New Lexington, Ohio/Fisher Catholic) were both 2-for-4. 

Denison will play again on Thursday when they take on Husson and Transylvania.
