Softball: Alex Murray earns top honor from NCAC

Denison sophomore third baseman Alex Murray (Mayfield Heights, Ohio/NDCL) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference softball Player of the Week after slugging three home runs in a two-game sweep of Wooster over the weekend.
In six games last week, Murray was 9-for-18 (.500) with four home runs, two doubles, eight runs scored and nine RBIs. She slugged an eye-popping 1.278 and raised her batting average 36 points to .393.
Against the Fighting Scots Denison hit six home runs, with three coming off the bat of Murray. In the nightcap her grand slam helped Denison stretch out the lead and eventually pull off a 10-6 victory.
The Denison softball team is 16-8 overall and 4-4 in the NCAC. They will go on the road for a doubleheader with Kenyon College on Wednesday (April 16) at 3:30 p.m.
