Softball: Denison wins 20th in sweep of Polar Bears

Ali Teopas had four hits in five at-bats on Tuesday against Ohio Northern.
The Denison softball team reached the 20-win mark for the eighth time in the 12-year history of the program following a doubleheader sweep of Ohio Northern on Tuesday afternoon in Ada, Ohio.
Senior Bri Scrofano (Longs, S.C./McDowell) improved to 11-4 after firing her 12th complete game of the season in the opening 3-2 victory. Denison led 2-0 until the Polar Bears tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Denison would score the go-ahead run run in the seventh when Erica Evans (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) scored after Alis Silver reached base on a throwing error by the pitcher.
Evans was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Ali Teopas (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) was 2-for-3 with an RBI at the top of the order.
In game two, Brie Berkopec (Mars, Pa./Mars) hit her fourth home run of the season in the season, a two-run shot in the fifth, and was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Teopas was 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored and Claire Kopko (Washington, Pa./Trinity) is now just two hits shy of becoming Denison's all-time hit leader.
Sam Rumschlag (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral) earned the win thanks to her seven-inning, three strikeout performance. Her record improved to 6-4.
Denison is 20-10 overall and will close out their regular season schedule on Saturday (April 26) with a doubleheader against Oberlin College. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Granville.
