Softball: Denison picks up two more wins in the sunshine state

The Denison softball team improved to 6-0 on the year following another pair of wins on Friday at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla.  

In their first game of the day Denison topped Benedictine 7-4 thanks to 13 hits and a four-run seventh inning. Sam Rumschlag (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral) got the start and picked up her third victory of the season.  Brie Berkopec (Mars, Pa./Mars) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Rachel Cotterman (New Lexington, Ohio/Fisher Catholic) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

In the second game Denison blanked Rutgers-Camden 10-0.  The game ended in the sixth inning after a three-run walk-off home run by senior Ali Teopas (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview).  The blast was the first of her career and capped off a 2-for-4 game at the plate.

Erica Evans (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) followed with two hits and two RBIs and junior Mary Beth Krolikowski (Brunswick, Ohio/Holy Name) went 3-for-3 with a triple.  Bri Scrofano (Longs, S.C./McDowell) also improved to 3-0 after allowing only three hits in six innings.  She struck out eight hitters on the day.

Friday's games capped off play for DU at the Rebel Games.  They will return to Ohio and host Marietta College in their home opener on Wednesday (March 19) at 3:30 p.m.
