Softball: Muskingum rallies to sweep Big Red

Denison scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning of game two on Wednesday afternoon but Muskingum responded with three runs in the home half of the sixth to win the game 9-8 and complete a doubleheader sweep of the Big Red in New Concord, Ohio.
DU dropped the first game 9-1 and was leading the second game following a six-hit sixth inning that was powered by RBI doubles by current North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week, Claire Kopko (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and senior left fielder Ali Teopas (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview).
Muskingum would start off their half of the sixth inning by drawing a pair of walks. Kari Hoying would follow with an RBI single and Mary Margret Boda tied the contest with a double that scored Paige Thompson.
With one out and a the go-ahead run on third base, Heather Fields lifted a sacrifice fly to center field that would give the Muskies the come-from-behind win.
Denison drops to 11-5 with the two losses. They look to rebound on Sunday (April 6) when they travel to Washington & Jefferson.
