Denison Softball held their sixth annual Strike Out Cancer last Sunday, April 22 when they swept the College of Wooster.

The Big Red earned $1,240 for the American Cancer Society thanks to patrons who donated for each strikeout Denison earned, each hit from a Denison player, or just general donations to the team, as a whole. One hundred percent of the contributions that were earned were donated to the Denison University's Relay for Life event which took place April 13th.

Bri Scrofano fired the second no-hitter of her career and Denison took game one 5-0 behind Scrofano's gem and pounded out 13 hits in a 10-1, run-rule victory over the Scots.

Scrofano was terrific in the opener as she did not allow a hit and walked only one batter in her seven innings of work. She struck out seven of the 23 batters faced and did not allow a base runner to reach second base.

In the bottom of the second inning Denison scored three runs off three hits by Ali Silver, Mary Beth Krolikowski and Emily Sack, giving DU the early 3-0 lead. They would add another pair of runs in the bottom of the third thanks to a two-run single by Rachel Cotterman.

Erin Porter was the hitting star in game two as she cranked two home runs. The first, a two-run shot in the first inning that scored Sack, put DU up 2-0. Her second came in the second inning and was a solo shot which capped off a five-run inning for the Big Red. Porter ended the day 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI. Ali Silver was also 3-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored. Cotterman was 2-for-2 while driving in a pair of runs.

The Big Red will be back in action this Saturday as they travel to Oberlin for a double header at 1:00 p.m.
