Women's Swimming & Diving: Big Red tops Grove City

The Denison women's swimming and diving squad improved to 4-2 in dual meets following a 161-124 victory over Grove City College on Saturday afternoon.
The Big Red made a clean sweep through the dual meet with Kristen Hohl (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton North) and Ksenia Golovkina (Newton, Mass./Newton South) leading the way with three victories apiece. Hohl and Golovkina teamed with Kate Rich (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) and Olivia Zaleski (Corry, Pa./Corry Area) to win the first event of the day, the 200 medley relay. Hohl would return with a time of 24.02 in the 50 freestyle and a 52.75 time in the 100 free. Golovkina swept the breaststroke events with a time of 2:26.87 in the 200 and a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:06.04 in the 100 breaststroke.
Prior to Golovkina's win in the 100 breaststroke, Zaleski notched a "B" cut time of 58.83 in the 100 backstroke. The 200 backstroke saw rookie Emily Schroeder (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) win the event with a season-best and provisional qualifying time of 2:08.76. Classmate Hilary Callen (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) set a new pool record in the 1000 freestyle with her time of 10:22.51 and senior Annamarie Novinger (Longmont, Colo./Niwot) topped teammate Breanna Gordon (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) with her time of 1:57.69 in the 200 freestyle.
Rounding out the winners for Denison was Laurel Brabson (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) in the 200 butterfly (2:11.44) and Brett Balling (Troy, Mich./Troy) who totaled 202.60 points in the one-meter dive.
