Women's Swimming: Denison takes second at Kenyon Invitational

The Denison women's swimmers took part in their final tune-up before next month's NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday at the Kenyon Invitational. A host of NCAA provisional qualifying swims were recorded at the event and as a team, Denison placed second with 312 points.

Lauren Menard (Mukileto, Wash./Kamiak) posted a very strong "B" cut time of 2:04.97 in the 200 backstroke, finishing just six-tenths away from an automatic qualifying swim.  Another strong "B" cut time was posted by Brenna Broadus (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarie) in the 400 IM with her time of 4:33.00.

First-year Marit Wangstad (Wagzata, Minn./The Blake School) won the 200 freestyle and turned in a season-best time of 1:53.15 in the event which was also a "B" cut swim.  Other provisional performances came from Bethany Sabourin (Troy, Mich./Athens) in the 200 IM (2:09.19), Annamarie Novinger (Longmont, Colo./Niwot) in the 50 free (24.28), Lauren Barone (Maumee, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.40) and Lauren McKenna (Darien, Conn./Darien) in the 200 butterfly (2:07.53).
