Women's Swimming & Diving: Bobcats trip up Big Red

Rochelle Akradi placed second in the 200 breaststroke against Ohio University.
The Denison women's swimming and diving squad returned to the pool on Friday night in Athens, Ohio. Despite five, first-place finishes the Big Red would go on to suffer a 171-121 loss to the Division I Ohio University Bobcats.
Senior Kristen Hohl (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton North) placed first in the 50 freestyle (24.31) and took second in the 100 free in 52.86 seconds. She also swam on the first-place 400 free relay squad with Laurel Brabson (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro), Olivia Zaleski (Corry, Pa./Corry Area) and Annamarie Novinger (Longmont, Colo./Niwot).
Prior to the 400 free relay win, Zaleski would win the 100 butterfly in 58.29 seconds. Hillary Callen (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) turned in a time of 5:09.53 to win the 500 free and Brenna Broadus (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarie) rounded out the list of DU winners with her first-place finish in the 400 IM.
In the one and three meter dives Denison's Lizzy Litwak (Loudonville, N.Y./Albany Academy for Girls) and Sammie Salas traded third and fourth place in each event. In the one meter dive Salas took third with 163.90 points and in the three meter competition it was Litwak who took third with 181.65 points.
Denison will return to action next Friday (Jan. 16) when they host Wittenberg at 5 p.m.
