Women's Swimming & Diving: Results After Day 2 of Miami Invitational

The Denison women's swimming and diving squad will enter the final day of competition at the 2007 Miami Invitational in fourth place with 459 points.  The host, Miami, is leading the meet with 1,070 points followed by Division II Truman State (858) and Division I Oakland University (614).

In the first event of the night the 200 freestyle relay team placed fourth as the team of Olivia Zaleski (Corry, Pa./Corry Area), Kristen Hohl (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton North), Kathy Faingold (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and Annamarie Novinger (Longmont, Colo./Niwot) finished with a time of 1:36.60.

Denison's second best finish of the night would come in the 100 breastroke courtesy of freshman Ksenia Golovkina's (Newton, Mass./Newton, Mass.) fifth place finish and a time of 1:05.80.  Faingold and Rochelle Akradi (Wagan, Minn./Eagan) placed 15th and 18th, respectively in the event as well. 

The 50 freestyle saw Hohl post a seventh place finish with a time of 24.21 in the finals.  Zaleski posted a time of 24.65 seconds which landed her 16th.  In the 100 backstroke it was Bethany Sabourin (Troy, Mich./Troy Athens) who led the way with a time of 58.92 seconds and an eighth place showing.  Zaleski and Anna Comella (Dover, Ohio/Dover) placed 14th and 15th respectively with times of 1:00.16 and 1:00.32.

Kacey Centrella (Douglassville, Pa./Boyertown Area) picked up some points with a 12th place finish in the 200 fly and on Thursday night Taylor Blake (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Suncoast) turned in a 19th place finish in the 1650 freestyle and a time of 17:46.95.

On Thursday night the Big Red's 800 free relay team finished out the first night with a time of 7:43.70.  On Friday, the 400 medley relay team of Sabourin, Golovkina, Kate Rich (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) and Hohl posted a time of 3:56.39, which was also good for fifth place.
