Women's Swimming & Diving: Bobcats Top Big Red in Athens

The Denison women's swimming and diving team was back in action for their first dual meet since mid-November on Friday evening. Despite four, first-place performances Ohio University managed to hang on for a 136-105 win.
Denison's Olivia Zaleski (Corry, Pa./Corry Area) and Kristen Hohl (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton North) both had strong showings in their respective events. Zaleski won the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.19 seconds and placed third in the 50 freestyle in 24.76 seconds.
Hohl was the winner in the 100 freestyle in 53.27 and turned in a third place showing in the 50 free (24.76). Zaleski also swam on the winning 200 free relay team with Annamarie Novinger (Longmont, Colo./Niwot), Brittany Oxley (Knoxville, Tenn./Bearden) and Lauren McKenna (Darien, Conn./Darien).
Denison's other victory came from freshman Ksenia Golovkina (Newton, Mass./Newton South) who touched in 1:05.11 in the 100 breaststroke.
Novinger also posted a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:18.99 and first-year Taylor Blake (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Suncoast Academy) landed in third place in both the 500 free and the 1650 free.
Freshman Samantha Salas (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) rounded out the top-finishers for Denison with a second-place showing in the three-meter dive competition and a third-place finish in the one-meter dive.
