Women's Swimming & Diving: DU Rolls Past Eagles

Bethany Sabourin (Troy, Mich./Athens) and Olivia Zaleski (Corry, Pa./Corry Area) won two events on Friday night as the Big Red improved to 6-1 on the year following a 141-93 victory over Division II Ashland University at Gregory Pool.

Sabourin and Zaleski teamed with Ksenia Golovkina (Newton, Mass./South) and Kate Rich (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) to win the 200 medley relay in 1:50.30.

Sabourin returned in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 1:01.15.  In the 50 freestyle Zaleski prevailed in 24.63 seconds.  Freshman Samantha Salas (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) swept the diving competitions with 209.04 points in the one-meter and 204 points in the three-meter.  

Sophomore Laura Menard (Mukilteo, Wash./Kamiak) took 10:53.02 to win the 1000 yard freestyle and Christine Wissink (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) touched first in the 100 fly in 59.64 seconds.

Sophomore Kathy Faingold (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and Taylor Blake (Palm Beach Gardens, Gla./Suncoast) rounded out the winners for the Big Red.  Faingold outdistanced teammate Kristen Hohl (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton North) in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.98 and Blake won the 500 free in 5:19.92.

Denison will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the three-day Miami University Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
