Women's Swimming & Diving: Zaleski Tabbed National Swimmer of the Week

Date: February 21, 2008
Location: GRANVILLE

Sophomore Olivia Zaleski (Corry, Pa./Corry Area) was named the Division III National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com following her outstanding performance at last week's North Coast Athletic Conference Championship.

Zaleski set a new NCAC record in the 100 butterfly with her time of 55.31.  She also was a part of the winning 200 free relay and 200 medley relay teams.  In the 50 and 100 freestyle she placed second behind teammate Kristen Hohl (Winfield, Ill./Wheaton North) and also swam on the second-place 800 free relay and 400 free relay squads.  Zaleski was named the NCAC Female Swimmer of the Year after helping Denison get within 15 points of the conference title.

This marks the second consecutive national swimmer of the week award garnered by the Denison women's swimming program.  Last week freshman Ksenia Golovkina (Newton, Mass./Newton South) was the recipient.

Select members of the Denison team will compete this Saturday at the Kenyon Invitational.  NCAA Division III nationals is scheduled for March 13-15 in Oxford, Ohio.
