Women's Tennis: Seven earn All-NCAC honors for DU, Burling repeats at Coach of the Year

The ninth-ranked Denison women's tennis team landed seven on the 2009 North Coast Athletic Conference all-conference squads while head coach Peter Burling wrapped up his fifth-straight NCAC Coach of the Year honor and eighth of his career.

Senior Meghan Damico (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), junior Marta Drane (Wilimington, Del./Tower Hill) and sophomore Kristin Cobb (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) all earned spots on the first team. The trio combined for  a 25-12 record across the top three singles flights. Additionally, Damico made her fourth-consecutive appearance on the first team while Cobb appeared on the first team for the second year in a row.

First-year Erin Chadwell (Chicago, Ill./Traverse City Central) earned second-team status after posting an 11-3 record playing in three of the six flights.

Earning honorable mention honors were senior Kendra Murray (St. Louis, Mo./Kirkwood) and rookies Sarah Short (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Kate Westenberger (York, Pa./Dallastown). Murray compiled an 8-2 record competing at No. 2, 5 and 6 singles. Short went 5-4 at fourth through six singles and Westenberger went a perfect 5-0 at the third flight.

In doubles, the Big Red landed two of the three first-team spots as Drane and Cobb made their second-consecutive appearance after going 9-5 at No. 1 for DU. The senior duo of Damico and Murray were also named first-team All-NCAC for the third-straight season after a 12-5 performance at first and second doubles.
