Women's Tennis: Ninth-ranked Denison blanks Kenyon

The ninth-ranked Denison women's tennis team improved to 8-6 on the season following a 9-0 victory over Kenyon College on Wednesday afternoon inside the Mitchell Recreation Center in Granville.

In singles action, senior Meghan Damico (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel), who is ranked second in the central region, improved to 3-3 against regionally ranked opponent with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over No. 8 Prita Kidder. Junior Marta Drane (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) won her fifth straight match while first-year Erin Chadwell (Chicago, Ill./Traverse City Central) captured her fourth consecutive victory. In the fourth through sixth flights Kara Zdanowski (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), Sarah Short (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Kendra Murray (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) all logged wins.

The central regions top-ranked team of Drane and sophomore Kristin Cobb (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) defeated the 13th-ranked duo of Kidder and Alexis Marino, 8-5. The tandems of Damico and Murray, and Chadwell and Zdanowski recorded 8-2 victories at the second and third flights, respectively.

The Big Red returns to the courts on Friday, April 17 when they host Oberlin College at 4:30 p.m.
