Women's Tennis: Chicago tops Big Red in Midwest Invitational Championship

The University of Chicago stopped the Big Red's two-match streak at the Midwest Invitational from Madison, Wis. Chicago, who is ranked fifth in the nation, took home the championship with a 5-2 win over No. 9 Denison on Saturday night. Denison and Chicago are the top two teams in the Central Region.
Denison picked up one win in singles play thanks to Marta Drane's (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) super tiebreaker win over Carmen Vaca Guzman. In doubles play Meghan Damico (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Kendra Murray (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) topped Jennifer Kung and Vindya Dayananda, 9-7. Both pairs were regionally ranked.
Denison falls to 7-6 overall with the loss while Chicago improves to 10-1.
