Women's Tennis: Big Red claim 6-3 victory over Oberlin

A sweep in doubles play helps the eighth-ranked Denison women's tennis team notch a 6-3 win over Oberlin College on Friday afternoon in Granville.
The Big Red jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Yeowomen after sweeping doubles play. The duos of Marta Drane (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) and Kristin Cobb (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood), Meghan Damico (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Kendra Murray (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood), and Erin Chadwell (Chicago, Ill./Traverse City Central) and Sarah Short (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel) all recorded 8-1 wins.
Murray also notched a 6-1, 6-0 win over Olivia Hayden at the second flight. First-years Kate Westenberger (York, Pa./Dallastown) and Elizabeth Emhardt (Carmel, Ind./Park Tudor School) also posted victories. Westenberger won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Emhardt registered a 6-4, 6-2 win at fifth singles.
DU improves to 9-6 while Oberlin falls to 12-10. Denison returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Allegheny College. Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
