Date: May 13, 2008
Location: CLEVELAND

Junior Meghan Damico (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) earned her second straight North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year award and Kristin Cobb (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) was named the conference's Newcomer of the Year, highlighting the 2008 NCAC all-conference award winners.

Damico and Cobb both earned first-team accolades after combining to go 31-7 at first and second singles for the Big Red.  This is the third straight first-team award for Damico who led DU to their second straight NCAA Quarterfinal appearance.

Second-team honors went to sophomores Marta Drane (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) and Kara Zdanowski (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) and senior Erin Gorsich (Dover, Ohio/Dover).  Drane posted a 10-5 record between second and third singles this season.  Gorsich split time between the third, fourth and fifth flight and went 5-6. Zdanowski, in her first full season as a starter, went 13-2 while playing in flights two through 6.

Junior Kendra Murray (St. Louis, Mo./Kirkwood) also played four of the six singles flights and was a perfect 10-0 which resulted in an honorable mention award.

In doubles, DU took up two of the three first team spots as Drane and Cobb led the list with a 17-5 record at No. 1 for the Big Red.  The duo qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship this weekend and were 6-0 in conference play.  Damico and Murray also were named to the first team after going 15-7 and 5-0 in the NCAC.

Denison will take on Emory University on Tuesday (May 13) at 2 p.m. in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals.
