Women's Tennis: Denison Handles #7 Mary Washington

Kara Zdanowski improved to 7-1 with her match-clinching victory on Saturday versus #7 Mary Washington.

The ninth-ranked Denison women's tennis team picked up a critical victory 5-4 victory on Saturday versus the nation's seventh ranked team, Mary Washington.  The Big Red got a key victory at #2 doubles from Meghan Damico (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Kendra Murray (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) and then came back to sweep first, second and third singles to take control of the match.

Damico was a winner at #1 singles while freshman Kristen Cobb (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) won at #2.  Third singles was controlled by sophomore Marta Drane (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill) and the clincher went to sophomore Kara Zdanowski (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) who continued her stellar play on the spring trip with a 7-6, 6-3 victory.

Denison returns home with a 5-2 record.  The loss was Mary Washington's first of the season.
