Women's Tennis: Denison earns fifth seed in NCAA Tournament

The Denison University women's tennis team has qualified for the 2008 NCAA Division III championship tournament and will travel to Greencastle, Ind. on the campus of DePauw University for a six-team regional that will begin on May 2 and continue through May 4.

The Big Red (18-3) are seeded fifth overall in the 47-team tournament and will receive a bye into Saturday's second-round where Denison will take on the winner of the Albion (18-2) and Baldwin-Wallace (21-4) match.  

In the other half of the regional, Kenyon College (15-5) will face-off against Manchester (10-3) for the right to play No. 8 seed, DePauw on Saturday. 

The second-round winners will meet in the third round on Sunday (May 4) for the right to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals on May 13 in Stain Peter, Minn.

Denison is coming off their seventh consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference championship and brings a 13-match winning streak into the national championship.  Denison is ranked fifth in the latest FILA/ITA Division III coaches poll and first in the most recent central region rankings.  

Match times for the NCAA regional in Greencastle will be posted when made available.
