First-year middle hitter Megan Early (Findlay, Ohio/Van Buren) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week after helping the Denison volleyball team to a perfect 3-0 record last week.
Early registered 21 kills and compiled a .347 hitting percentage to lead the Big Red. The Findlay native also recorded nine solo blocks, including four in the win over Kenyon College. Early has a .297 hitting percentage which ranks her sixth in the conference. She also leads the team in solo blocks (37) and total blocks (45) and is second on the squad with 158 kills.
DU recorded two 3-0 conference victories against Earlham and Kenyon and closed the week out with an impressive 3-2 triumph over league rival Ohio Wesleyan. The win over OWU marked the first time this season the young squad won a match after falling two games to one, and it also capped the Big Red's first three-game winning streak of the year.
Denison returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 29) when they welcome NCAC foe Oberlin for a 7 p.m. match.
