Volleyball: Big Red falls to Wooster in season finale

The Denison women's volleyball team closed out the season by dropping a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-17) decision to the College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon in Wooster, Ohio.

The Big Red attack was paced by junior Sara Mason (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) and first-year Morgan Sturgeon (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne). Mason had nine kills while Sturgeon blasted eight kills. The setter duo of Ali Trotter (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) and Claire Koneval (Solon, Ohio/Solon) each recorded 17 assists. Defensively, junior Holly Leonard (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) had 18 digs while first-years Megan Early (Findlay, Ohio/Van Buren) and Kristen Hughes (Downington, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) each blocked two shots.

On the season, Mason led the squad with a team-high 195 while Early led the team in blocks with 49 and totaled a .312 attack percentage. Trotter finished her senior campaign with 521 assists while Koneval tallied 497 helpers in her debut season. Leonard has a team-high 564 digs to pace the Big Red.
