Volleyball: Big Red drop pair to Otterbein and Trine

The Denison volleyball team closed out play at the Otterbein Cardinal Classic with  a pair of losses to Trine University and to the host, Cardinals on Saturday afternoon from Westerville, Ohio.

In the morning match-up against Trine, DU fell in four sets, 3-1 (27-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-15).  Lauren Strowder (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) and Megan Early (Findlay, Ohio/Van Buren) both played well, attacking the net for 14 kills apiece.  Claire Koneval (Solon, Ohio/Solon) helped out with 52 assists and Holly Leonard had 24 digs on the back line for the Big Red.

In the afternoon match, Otterbein stopped Denison 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-15).  Strowder again led the team with six kills.  Koneval posted 19 assists and Leonard had 12 digs. 

DU will travel to Capital on Tuesday (Sept. 22) for a 6:30 p.m. meeting with the Crusaders.
