The Big Red traveled to Oberlin College on Wednesday night and kept themselves in the running for a North Coast Athletic Conference tournament berth thanks to a 3-1 (30-19, 30-26, 23-30, 30-20) victory over the Yeowomen.
Senior Kelsey Bruce (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) notched her 1,000th career kill. She finished with 16 kills and now has 1,005 for her career. She needs 27 more kills to pass Kristen Sheffield and become the school's all-time leader.
Tonight's team leader in kills was Kasia Kucharski (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Ready). She posted 17 kills and now has a team best 321 on the year. Holly Leonard (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Twp.) had 25 digs and Ali Trotter (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) finished with 49 assists. Senior Irene Link (Parma, Ohio/Padua) led the way on defense with three blocks.
The victory improves Denison's record to 11-12 overall and 5-7 in conference play. Their victory, combined with Earlham's 3-1 loss to Wittenberg moves DU into sole possession of fourth place. Individual leaders from the match will be posted shortly.
