Volleyball: Day 1 Results from Mount Union Invitational

The Big Red volleyball team and first year head coach Lynsey Pyle kicked off the 2007 season by going 1-1 in the first day of competition at the Mount Union Invitational.
DU dropped the opener to Westminster, 1-3 (30-27, 25-30, 26-30, 19-30) but was led by Kasia Kucharski's 17 kills and Holly Leonard's 19 digs. Junior setter Ali Trotter posted 39 assists while senior Kelsey Bruce tallied three blocks.
In the second match of the night Denison dispatched Case Western Reserve 3-1 (20-30, 30-27, 30-21, 30-19). Kucharski led the team once again in kills with 16. Trotter posted a career-best 44 assists and Irene Link finished with six blocks. First-year Lauren Weidner also came up big with 26 digs for the Big Red.
They will continue competition in Alliance on Saturday.
