MAKE IT HAPPEN! Entrepreneurs for Social Change
In this workshop students will be introduced to the theory, methods, and practice of the developing field of social entrepreneurship through case studies, experiences in the community, and conversations with social entrepreneurs. Participants will gain an understanding of the skills necessary and the opportunities that exist to engage in this important work. Some of the topics to be addressed are: creating a vision, developing a strategy, and addressing funding issues.
The workshop will consist of classroom presentations, discussions, and field trips. Participants are encouraged to identify an area of interest that they can use as a focus for their work during the workshop and beyond. The workshop will begin with dinner and an introductory session on Sunday evening, August 21 and go through Friday afternoon, August 26. The workshop is a full-time commitment for participants.
Dr. Marci McCaulay, Interim Director,Women's Resource Center, Dr. Fadhel Kaboub, Assistant Professor, Economics and Dr. Lyn Robertson, Director of Service Learning will facilitate the workshop on social entrepreneurship.
Students will be provided housing on Denison’s campus for the week for a nominal fee of approximately $60. This fee may be waived for Pell grant recipients or others that demonstrate need. Materials for the workshop and most meals will also be provided. The workshop is free and open to 25 current Denison students.
