What is the LeaderShape Institute?
“This is no kiddie camp,” said one ’02 Institute
graduate.
LeaderShape
is a 6-day, living-learning experience. It is an institute, not a conference,
which means that all participants experience the same programs, discussions,
and activities at the same pace.
What kinds of sessions are included?
“It’s not just another leadership thing,” said a
LeaderShaper from the 2nd annual Institute.
LeaderShape
is an intense and fun experience. There are early mornings as well as late
nights of games and bonding with fellow participants. Specifics of the program
include a team challenge course (half-day, low-ropes teambuilding experience),
an evening with a Guest Leader Panel in which participants are exposed to “real
world” role models, quality facilitators from a variety of backgrounds, and
interactive small group meetings.
What kind of people should apply for LeaderShape?
“At the end, I could have a real conversation with anyone who had been
there,” said another LS graduate.
Anyone interested in leadership should apply. We are looking for students from
a variety of backgrounds, with a variety of leadership experiences, and at a
variety of ages. LS 2007 is open to any student interested in producing
extraordinary results in an organization while also developing a commitment to lead with integrity.
What happens if I’m accepted?
Applicants
will be notified of their status before Thanksgiving Break. Participants
selected will a mandatory orientation this fall to get more information and to
meet their fellow participants. Applicants MUST keep in mind that if selected,
they will return to campus on January 6 (flying) or 7 (driving), 2008. They will travel to
the Institute site on chartered busses on the 7th and remain on site
for the duration of the program, which concludes about noon on January 12. Also, LeaderShape is a
substance-free program. All
participants will be asked to adhere to that standard.
