Bill Selby enters his 27th year of employment at Denison University. Selby began at Denison in 1981 as a part-time worker with the residence halls. Later, Selby accepted a full-time position as an evening supervisor in the residence halls. When the supervisory positions in the residence halls were phased out, Selby worked for a short period of time as a part-time building monitor at Denison's Physical Education Center before accepting the position as assistant equipment manager. He retired from full-time employment with the department at the end of the 2004-05 school year but continues to work part-time as the early morning facilities monitor. His responsibilities now include opening and supervising the Physical Education Center and the Mitchell Recreation and Athletics Center along with supervising the student employees. Selby also assists the equipment staff with light laundry duties along with event set-up.

A graduate of Newark Catholic High School and current resident of Newark, Selby enlisted in the United States Naval Forces upon graduating from high school. During service, Selby performed 10 years of duty on the Atlantic seaboard and 10 years on the Pacific seaboard in Special Intelligence with the Naval Security Group, finishing as a veteran of the Vietnam War.

An avid golfer, he makes frequent stops at the local golf courses and enjoys making his own golf clubs.

Selby has two daughters, one son, two stepsons, and seven grandchildren. Bill and his wife, Karen, currently reside in Newark.
