Guidelines & Processes for Designing a Service-Learning Course
Whether you are a faculty member considering offering your first service-learning course, or have had experience in incorporating service learning into your courses, the Center is your primary resource for planning and implementing your service learning courses. The following guidelines should be followed.

- Consider whether the objectives for the course align with the elements that distinguish service-learning courses at Denison.
- Contact the Director of the Alford Center to begin a conversation about the logistics of the course. Ideally, give us a heads up by October 1st for Spring courses and February 15th for Fall courses.
- Once the planning is complete, provide the course number and title along with a brief description to the Center.
- The Center will work to coordinate the schedules of the community partners, transportation, and other details for the course.
