John W. Alford Center for Service Learning

The Denison-Newark Connection Center is an after-school program run out of North Elementary School  in Newark. We work with elementary and middle school students from Newark on tutoring, literacy related activities, and educational games two days a week in the afternoon. This program is unique because it helps kids learn by offering them one-on-one attention in an encouraging environment.  If you enjoy working with children, or think you would enjoy working with children, then this is the committee for you! If you can spend an hour helping a child with reading or math, you will be sowing the seeds of a better life for that child.
