Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week
November is National Homelessness Awareness Month. At Denison, the Denison Community Association (DCA) hosts a Homelessness and Hunger Awareness week to bring attention to issues surrounding homelessness. This week is designed to bring solidarity and understanding. Additionally, we hope that the events will promote future involvement of students in these issues. This annual event allows an opportunity for students to become aware of these issues and to discover the impact they can make and change they can catalyze.
One feature of the week is the group of students who sleep outside to bring attention to the issues faced by the homeless. The campus-wide sleep-out will take place on Thursday, November 8th but anyone is welcome to sleep-out all week as well. Key cards can be turned in to Susie Kalinoski in the Service-Learning Center (in the basement of Higley).
