Salvation Army

Denison volunteers work with the Salvation Army’s after-school programs several days afternoons and evenings each week. The Power for Life program works with girls who are twelve to sixteen years old each day after school. Club 3:16 works with children ages six to fifteen, just once a week. Finally, The Point is a teen group which works with young adults ages thirteen to eighteen once a week. Volunteers work closely with these programs, participating in activities like pumpkin picking, swimming, bowling, and crafts as well as assisting with homework and acting as positive role models. The committee also takes leftover food from Curtis and Huffman dining halls to the Salvation Army. In addition they help to host community dinners at the Salvation Army the first Tuesday of every month where volunteers set up, serve and cleanup. Volunteering with the Salvation Army is a wonderful way to help with hunger and poverty issues, as well as working with youth on a regular basis.
