Campus Leadership & Involvement

The Campus Leadership & Involvement Center exists to foster and support student opportunities for learning, leadership, community-building, and creative expression beyond the classroom.

We believe our purpose is:

  • To lead the Denison University community — including student groups, faculty, and administration — in developing and administering activities that result in outcomes such as intellectual growth, ability to communicate effectively, realistic self-appraisal, enhanced self-esteem, clarification of values, leadership development, meaningful interpersonal relations, ability to work independently and collaboratively, social responsibility, satisfying and productive lifestyles, appreciation of aesthetic and cultural diversity, and achievement of personal goals.

  • To sponsor and assist in the creation of a variety of Denison campus and community programs that are engaging, developmental and experiential for all participants.

  • To support and aid in the establishment of campus traditions and student retention through the implementation of annual Denison campus and community events.

  • To initiate ongoing assessment and evaluation of the student body's interests and needs in relation to one's enhancement of social outlets, multicultural awareness, educational opportunities, diversity issues and the individual's leadership development and co-curricular experiences.

  • Though we strive to provide resources to the entire Denison community, our direct impact on the campus is through our advisement and resulting responsibilities in the following areas: registered student organizations, leadership, Greek Life, program co-sponsorship, direct advisement of programming and governance bodies, and annual and all-campus programming.

  • To create student employment opportunities which provide valuable services to the campus community as well as financial benefit to our employees. In structuring these student employment positions we strive to create opportunities for team building, role modeling and development of leadership and life skills, while enhancing the community environment within Slayter Union.

  • To challenge ourselves, as professionals working in the Denison University community, to strive to serve as role models. We pledge to do so by constantly making ourselves aware of current trends in student activities and union operations, reaching out to all students on campus, being involved with professional affiliations and by examining accepted practices. We do so to provide the students with a stronger support network and with the belief that we are providing quality services to our University community.
