General Information for Recruitment & Intake

What is Recruitment?

The process for joining a Greek organization is called "Recruitment" or "Intake.

When can I join a fraternity or sorority?

Students can join a fraternity or sorority during the recruitment/intake periods throughout the academic year.

At Denison University, we have a Deferred Recruitment process for first-year students. Deferred recruitment delays, or defers the joining process for first-year students until their second semester at Denison University. This allows first-year students to adjust to Denison, focus on their academics, and learn about the different involvement opportunities prior to joining. Students must meet the eligibility requirements to be eligible to participate in recruitment.

All other students may join a fraternity or sorority in the Fall semester through an informal recruitment process, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.
