My HHMI Early Research Experience gave me an opportunity to
become involved in the world of professional science at the start of my
academic career. I learned about the finer aspects of conducting research from
this hands-on experience. I was also able to assist in preparing a manuscript
for a peer-reviewed journal and to present a poster of my research at a
professional science conference. This experience provided me with with the
skills necessary to take on other research projects at my university. Ultimately,
I credit the ERES training for allowing me to become a more competitive and
successful graduate school applicant.
